What will you learn in this WSET Advanced Course?

The International Wine Certificate WSET level 2 teaches WHAT – reproduce the facts. The Advanced Course WSET Level 3 teaches WHY – explain the connections. The influence of climate, vinification, and the winemaker’s choices determine the style of the wine. These are the topics:

  • Factors that influence the style, quality, and price of wine
  • Viticulture and vinification
  • Legislation, labels, marketing
  • Wine regions, wine styles, and grape varieties in Europe and the New World
  • Special winemaking techniques: sparkling, sweet, and fortified wines
  • Systematic, professional wine tasting

Unique Wijnstudio service: additional online sessions

Almost all students balance have to between demanding work and busy personal lives, and time often poses a challenge. Wijnstudio offers three additional online sessions, providing opportunities for questions, discussions, and interaction between students.

Session 1: Effective study methods, studying together, using flashcards, and creating mind maps.
Session 2: Extensive exam preparation. What to expect during the exam, how to avoid pitfalls, and how to achieve the best results.
Session 3: Exam training. This includes creating tasting notes for two wines. And a theory mock exam, with special attention to answering open questions.

Your personal login page

Here, you will find the class schedule, further details on the Systematic Approach to Tasting,  and presentations. In addition, you will receive lesson plans with homework exercises, exam practice questions, exam tips & tricks.

Study group

The key to successful learning is to form a study group right from the start. Taste together, study together. And start to learn from the very first week. On the first day of class, a study group will be formed. Even after this course, students often keep on tasting together.

Study Load

WSET Level 3 is an intensive course. On average, there are 12 to 16 weeks from the first lesson to the last. This means a study load of 10-12 hours per week.

WSET level 3: ready for Diploma Course

A student who has successfully completed level 3, will be admitted to WSET level 4: Diploma Course, the highest international wine course before Master of Wine. Moreover,  immediately afterward, it is possible to become a Weinakademiker, by writing a dissertation. Wijnstudio has a collaboration with the Austrian Weinakademie. Especially for Wijnstudio students, several scholarships of € 1,000 each are yearly available.

The Wijnstudio is a Recognized  Institute for Education. Therefore,  its is VAT-exempt, no VAT will be added to the course price.
